Partnerships
Stroud District Youth Council (SDYC) is supported and developed by Stroud District Council (SDC). Over the years additional partnerships have evolved to develop successful relationships with young people and their communities. A range of youth and community work methods have been and still are used, to develop young people’s active involvement. Through the continued involvement of youth work provision, the successful impact on young people, their communities and associated organisations is made.
Background and History
From March 2002 until September 2006 the support of Gloucestershire County Council’s Youth Service was present through a part time youth support worker who facilitated the youth council’s work. Since then a full-time professional youth and community worker has been employed by SDC to facilitate the operational development of the SDYC. This post led the development of the current Stroud Youth Voice model and today manages the strategic and operational aspects of this SDC service.
Today’s SDC Youth Work Team
The input of professional and qualified youth workers is vitally important for the continued progress of this youth council and further developments will enhance current and future partnerships. The SDC Youth Work Team work with a range of partner organisations to facilitate the various youth voice projects and programmes - they typically include: services units with SDC; parish and town councils within the district; services from Gloucestershire County Council; services from NHS Gloucestershire Integrated Care Board; Gloucestershire Constabulary and the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner; secondary schools and colleges; and other organisations from the voluntary and community sector.
