Local Authorities
The county of Gloucestershire, from a local authority perspective, is run by one County Council and six District Councils (some are called Borough’s or City’s) and a wide range of parish and town council’s. Each Council operates both statutory and non statutory public services – these services are determined by the respective Council’s elected members (i.e. Councillors) who also set their respective annual budgets accordingly. Services delivered are often personal to each parish, town and district, however those undertaken by the county council include: transport and highways; social care; public health; and education.
Stroud District Youth Council endeavour to work with Stroud District Council and Gloucestershire County Council to influence decision making on matters of concern to young people on the services they receive from these to local authorities.
