After three rounds of democratic elections, Stroud District Youth Council elected its Leadership Team, British Youth Council Representatives, Chair and Vice-Chair for 2022-2023. Ben Stone as Leader, Brandon Watkins as Anti-Bullying Principal Member, Maxie Wells as Principal Member for Health and Wellbeing, Cate James-Hodges as Principal Member for Environment and Tom Wickham-Basset as Principal Member for Local Democracy. Youth Voice training 10th October 2021. Youth Voice training is a chance for both Youth Council and Youth Forum members to get to know each other and the Rights that protect youth voice. The United Nation on the Convention on the Rights of the Child articles 12 and 13 are quoted to help members understand the articles that sometimes get missed. Members gain confidence by socialising and voicing their concerns and opinions in a safe space. “It was a fun and rewarding experience, especially meeting different people from youth forums that I hadn’t met before.” -Cate James-Hodges
Stroud District Youth Council were part of the panel for annual Section 11 Safeguarding audit, of Gloucestershire Safeguarding Children’s Partnership (GSCP.) Members were invited to ask questions to scrutinise different organisations in the partnership on how they safeguard children and young people. November 2021
